1. Q: Who participates in campus visits?
A: The University of Mississippi invites all prospective students and their families to come to the campus and learn more about Ole Miss and Oxford, a great public university in one of America's premier college towns.
2. Q: What is the benefit of visiting campus?
A: Weekday visits provide insight into everyday campus life and give visitors the opportunity to take advantage of many campus resources, and are encouraged.
3. Q: What all can be included in my campus visit?
A: Visits may include an information session with a Regional Admissions Counselor, campus tour, tour of student housing, appointments with academic faculty or Student Affairs staff, and/or meeting with a financial aid counselor. Please give us at least 48 business hours of advance notice to set up these appointments.
4. Q: What is an information session?
A: An information session is a chance for you to talk with one of our Regional Admissions Counselors in a small group setting to discuss different aspects of campus life, academics, life in Oxford, admissions requirements and many other aspects of university life. You will also have plenty of time to get your questions answered!
5. Q: What is a campus tour?
A: A campus tour is a 45 minute to 1 hour walking tour of campus. It will give you an opportunity to see academic buildings, student services, dining halls, and much more. One look at this gorgeous landscape and you will be sold!
6. Q: What is a tour of the residence hall?
A: During this 1 hour activity, you will have an opportunity to talk with a Student Housing representative to discuss with you in more detail, the housing opportunities available on campus. You will also get to view both a traditional and contemporary residence hall. For more information, please view the Student Housing and Residence Life website directly.
7. Q: How long will my campus visit take?
A: Each appointment is typically 45-60 minutes in length, so depending on how many activities you decide to participate in, your visit can run for an hour or the whole day!
8. Q: How much time should I allot to get my visit scheduled?
A: Please fill out the request form at least one week before you would like to visit campus so we can make sure to accommodate all of your wishes. Note: If your visit is scheduled within 48 hours of the selected date, we cannot guarantee all of your requested appointments will be available.
9. Q: How do I schedule a campus visit?
A: To schedule your campus visit, please register online through the campus visit request page found within the “Visiting UM” tab on our Admissions page. You just have to click on “Schedule a Visit” and fill out the required fields. If you are ready to do so now, click here.
10. Q: What does it mean if the date I would like to book on the calendar is unavailable?
A: More than likely, dates that are unavailable on the calendar are dates we are not able to provide campus visits, but please keep in mind that there are several Saturday visit dates scheduled throughout the Fall and Spring. Please check our Weekend visit calendar for those available dates.
11. Q: What do I do if I need to make a change to the visit I have previously scheduled?
