Curtis Wilkie earned his Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from Ole Miss and, since 2002, has been teaching classes such as Magazine and Feature Writing, Advanced Reporting, Investigative/Interpretative Reporting, Political Reporting, and Covering Conflict and Other People than Ourselves. After receiving his degree, Curtis went on to work as a reporter for Clarksdale Press Register from 1963-1969, and for The Wilmington News-Journal from 1971-1974. In 1975, Curtis began working at The Boston Globe, where he spent the next 25 years. In addition to his newspaper experience, Curtis has written for numerous national magazines, such as Playboy, The New Republic, The Nation, George and Newsweek; he is also the author of “Dixie,” co-author of “Arkansas Mischief,” and one of the contributing authors of “City Adrift.” Outside of the classroom and aside from journalism, his interests revolve around reading and thoroughbred racing.
