The primary sources of scholarship funding for undergraduate Music students are the stipends for students participating in University Bands, Choirs, or Orchestra. For entrance and scholarship audition information:

The Department of Music also administers a limited number of four-year $1000.00 Music Excellence Scholarships. Candidates for the Music Excellence Scholarship are identified by faculty during the application/audition process and are nominated and reviewed by the Performance Area Heads.
The Department of Music also administers a number of endowed scholarships, made available by donations from alumni and friends of the University. Students will be notified of awards if selected. Amounts for these endowed scholarships vary from year to year (and some are awarded for only one year) as they are funded by income from endowments held in the University of Mississippi Foundation.
In addition to the scholarships administered by the Department of Music, students many also be eligible for other University of Mississippi scholarships that have been made available through the generous donations of alumni and friends of the university. Incoming freshmen who wish to be considered for scholarships must submit an online Special Programs and Scholarships Application. This application should be completed as soon as possible and no later than by March 1. Transfer students should submit a transcript that includes three semesters of grades. This should be done by the priority deadline of February 1 but no later than March 1 prior to enrollment.
For graduate students, there are stipends provided for teaching and other graduate assistantships. Prospective students are asked to fill out an Application for Graduate Assistantship.
