Thank you. You have worked hard for the last 18 or so years and have created
a precious gift that you are now about to entrust to The University of Mississippi. Every year we welcome thousands of new students to our campus
and have the wonderful opportunity to help them grow into young men and
women who will lead us in this new millennium. We watch them enter as
strangers and see them transform into mature, productive leaders. Then, with
a mixture of sadness and joy, we watch as they leave us, no longer
strangers, but family.
This is a new time for you, too. Maybe this is your first student, and you
are anxious, nervous and excited. Maybe you've been here before with other students, and you know the drill. Whatever the case, it is a transition, and
we are here to help you as well as your student. They are new members of our family, but so are you. That is why we have created this parent Web site—to help make the transition a little easier, to help you answer a few questions and learn a few names and numbers, to give you the skinny on your student's
new home.
As you look through the site, please give us a call or drop us a letter or
e-mail message, and tell us what other content you would like to see us
cover. We’re glad to have you as a member of our family. Thanks again!
Warmest regards,

Whitman Smith
Director of Orientation
