Brief Bio
Tonya K. Flesher is the Arthur Andersen Professor of Accountancy in the Patterson School of Accountancy at the University of Mississippi. As the Dean of the School of Accountancy from 1987-1993, she was the first female to serve as a dean at the University of Mississippi. She is a past president of the Academy of Accounting Historians. She serves as director of the Tax History Research Center. The Mississippi Society of CPAs named her the Outstanding Educator in 1995. In 2003, Dr. Flesher was given the Elsie M. Hood Outstanding Teacher Award, which is the top teaching award on campus. She is a CPA with work experience in public accounting and with the Internal Revenue Service. Her teaching and research interest are in taxation. She is the author of several books and over 100 articles.
