Brief Bio
Jeanni Atkins is Associate Professor of Journalism. Dr. Atkins received her Ph.D. from the University of Missouri in 1989. She joined the faculty in 1986. She teaches graduate courses in law, history and public opinion. She has presented refereed papers at international communications conferences in Australia, Jerusalem, Hong Kong , Manchester, England and Wales. Papers presented at national and regional meetings include the American Journalism Historians conferences, Western Journalism Historians conferences, regional and national conferences of AEJ/MC and intercultural conferences. She has also presented papers at the National Newspaper Association. She is the director of the Mississippi Center for Freedom of Information and publishes columns on FOI issues in papers around the state.
