Brief Bio
Jeff Hallam is a Professor of Health Promotion in the Heath, Exercise Science and Recreation Management Department. He is also the Founding Director of the Center for Health Behavior Research (founded in 2003). He joined the University of Mississippi faculty in 1999. Dr. Hallam is also a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES). Dr. Hallam received his PhD in Health Promotion and Education from The Ohio State University in 1995. Prior to joining the University of Mississippi faculty, he was a visiting assistant professor at The Ohio State University (1995-1997) and an assistant professor at Baylor University (1997-1999). His primary research focus is physical activity behavior. He also conducts community based participatory research and college student alcohol behavior research. Dr. Hallam has received funding from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, Active Living Research, US Department of Education, NCAA, Anheuser-Busch, National Center for Safe Routes to School, Mississippi Department of Transportation, Community Foundation of Northwest Mississippi, and the James C Kennedy Foundation. His primary teaching responsibilities are in the graduate Health Behavior and Health Promotion program.
