Brief Bio
Dr. Kathleen Woodruff Wickham, Ed.D, associate professor of journalism, teaches media writing, advanced reporting, ethics and graduate research methods. Beginning in Fall 2008, she will serve as the department's graduate program coordinator. She has written three books: The role of the Clarion-Ledger in the adoption of the Mississippi Education Reform Act of 1982: Winning the Pulitzer Prize (2007) Math Tools for Journalists (2001) and Perspectives: Online Journalism (1997) and published articles in Newspaper Research Journal. Dr. Wickham previously taught at the University of Memphis. Before entering academia, she worked as a daily newspaper reporter for 10 years in New Jersey (the Newark Star-Ledger and the Atlantic City Press). In addition, she has attended professional development programs sponsored by the Poynter Institute for Media Studies, the American Press Institute and the Freedom Forum and was an American Society of Newspaper Editors fellow in 1999 working at Gannett News Services, Washington, D.C. Dr. Wickham is also the adviser to the Ole Miss chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists.
