Brief Bio
Michael Mossing is an Associate Professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry. Dr. Mossing received his Ph.D. under the guidance of Tom Record at the University of Wisconsin in 1985. Following four years of as an American Cancer Society Postdoctoral Fellow with Bob Sauer at MIT, Dr. Mossing took a position of Assistant Professor of Biological Sciences at the University of Notre Dame. In 1998 he joined the Department of Chemistry at the University of Mississippi and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2003. Dr. Mossing has published numerous papers on the biophysical chemistry of protein folding, assembly and protein-nucleic acid interactions, with particular focus on the lac and bacteriophage lambda Cro Repressors. He has received funding from the US National Institutes of Health and the National Science Foundation. Dr. Mossing is Chair of the City of Oxford Pathways Commission and an advocate for pedestrian and bicycle access. Dr. Mossing teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in Biochemistry, Biophysical Chemistry and Molecular Biology.
