    I am excited to be on the journey to receive my Master’s. I am a wife and a mom of four. I currently teach Algebra I at DeSoto Central High School in Southaven, MS. I have a passion for helping kids learn and love to see them accomplish their goals.

What does this scholarship award mean to you?

I am extremely grateful. The financial part of school is a big reason I have put it off for so long. So, to find out that I was even considered truly made my heart smile.

Why did you choose to attend the University of Mississippi?

The University of Mississippi is the closest to my house and the programming they offer works best for my busy schedule working full time and being a mom.

What inspired you to pursue a degree at the School of Education?

Being in the classroom I really wanted to further my education and the special education area really hits home for me. I have a nephew who has level 2 Autism and one of my boys has level 1 autism, DMDD, ADHD, PTSD, and multiple diagnosis of anxiety. So, learning more about the behaviors they experience really intrigues me.
