Preliminary Reminders

Questions about Course Procedures: Please hold questions about course procedures/policies until the end of the session. The Instructor will answer questions then.

Chat Panel: The instructor will periodically enable and disable the chat panel as we move from lecture to discussion. When the instructor enables the chat for you to discuss assigned readings, type your comments into the panel and hit ENTER to send to the class. The instructor will respond to your comments by audio.

Audio Delay: There will be a delay of several seconds between sending your typed comments and hearing the instructor's audio response--please be patient. Also the instructor will sometimes pause in speaking to draw on the Whiteboard or type in the chat panel.

Audio Problems: If you experience problems with the Instructor's Audio, close the Windows Media Player and restart it by clicking the "Live Meeting Session" link again. You do not have to exit the Virtual Classroom to do this. If you continue to have difficulties, you can listen to the audio component later in our Audio Archive in COURSE DOCUMENTS.

Floor Function: If the chat discussion becomes too confusing with several participants "speaking" at once, the instructor may enable the FLOOR function requiring you to request the floor in order to chat. Click the FLOOR icon (shaped like a hand) in the upper right corner of the screen to chat.

Graphics Download: When we visit webpages with graphics (such as artwork), it will take several seconds for graphics to download and appear in the Virtual Classroom window. If graphics do not appear after a minute or two, exit the Virtual Classrroom and re-enter. Links to all graphics will be available later in the Virtual Classroom archives.

Take Notes: You might take notes throughout the class session on the instructor's lecture, but the chat panel discussion and the instructor's audio will be available for future reference in the class archives.
