Tips for Virtual Class Sessions Questions about Course Procedures: When the instructor begins a lecture, please hold questions about course procedures/policies until the end of the session. The Instructor will answer questions then.
Audio Problems: If you experience problems with the Instructor's Audio, close the Windows Media Player and restart it by clicking the "Live Meeting Session" link again. You do not have to exit the Virtual Classroom to do this. If you continue to have difficulties, you can listen to the audio component later in our Audio Archive in COURSE DOCUMENTS. You can participate in the current class session by following the instructions on the screen and in the chat panel.
Chat Panel: You can communicate with the instructor and the class through the chat panel, but the panel may not be enabled throughout the entire class session. The instructor will periodically enable and disable the chat panel as we move from lecture to discussion. The instructor will notify you when the panel is open for chatting.
Floor Function: If the chat discussion becomes too confusing with several participants "speaking" at once, the instructor may enable the FLOOR function requiring you to request the floor in order to chat. Click the FLOOR icon (shaped like a hand) in the upper right corner of the screen to chat.
Graphics Download: Throughout the session, we will visit several websites and examine graphics and artwork that will appear in the Virtual Classroom window. Artwork graphics will take several seconds to download and appear. If graphics do not appear in the Virtual Classroom window after a minute or two, exit the Virtual Classrroom and re-enter. This should restore the images and the chat panel. Links to all graphics will be available later in the Virtual Classroom archives.
Take Notes: You might take notes throughout the class session just in case something happens to the archive of this session. However, you should be able to read a complete archive of the classroom chat, including all websites the class examined by visiting the "Browse Archives" section in the VIRTUAL CLASSROOM area of our course website.
