Industry Sponsored Research Programs

Background

Since its inception in 1987, the Composite Materials Research Group (CMRG) at the University of Mississippi has been actively involved in composite materials research and has developed a nationally/internationally recognized program in pultrusion research. Over the past 10 years, the the CMRG has conducted over 30 industry sponsored research projects, with many repeat customers. In these projects, the CMRG has worked with companies ranging from material suppliers to composites manufacturers. The research expertise, facilities, and equipment of the CMRG can be utilized by the composites industry through these research projects. With a focus on research topics that have practical application for the composites industry, the CMRG strives to serve the composites industry through such research programs.

Establishing a Research Program

Depending on the needs of the project, research projects can last from days to years, and reseach agreements can be established as a fixed fee contract or on a pay-as-you-go basis. Please contact the CMRG for more specific information. While the ultimate goal of academic research is to disseminate new knowledge, nondisclosure agreements can be utilized for projects when necessary. If appropriate and agreed upon by the parties, data from reseach projects may be published. In recent years, CMRG researchers have coauthored papers with researchers from companies including Dow Chemical Company, Ciba, Bayer Material Science, Resolution Performance Products (formerly Shell), and Huber Engineered Materials.
