Proposed Changes to Post Tenure Review Policy
All tenured faculty members, including administrators, shall undergo a post-tenure review once every six years. However, any faculty member who has received at least four "satisfactory" annual reviews in the six-year cycle will be exempt from the cycle's post-tenure review. For the purpose of this document, an annual review conducted by the Department Chair or Dean shall be deemed satisfactory unless the Chair's or Dean's review states expressly that "for the purpose of post-tenure review, this shall be considered an unsatisfactory review." Any promotion review of a tenured faculty member handled under existing customary tenure and promotion procedures shall be considered as equivalent to a scheduled post-tenure review and will postpone a separate, normally scheduled post-tenure review for six years. Post-tenure review for tenured faculty members holding administrative appointments will supplement, not substitute for, other assessments of their performance of administrative duties.
