Classroom Technology
Meek Hall rooms 124 & 127 -- the printmaking and ceramics labs, located on the main floor. Also, Meek 16, the sculpture lab, located in the lower level of the building.
Currently, we have wireless networking in the two computer labs, Meek 117 & 119. However, all students are using laptops and cell phones throughout the building, which causes problems for those trying to get online in the computer labs. There are networked computers in the labs, which are hardwired, however students who have brought their REQUIRED computer to class, have problems accessing the internet because of those using the wireless outside of the computer labs in other classrooms.
While the limited wireless may cause problems for those in the computer labs, wireless internet access is instrumental in the art building because we teach visual arts in all classrooms. Faculty & students actively look up images, artists and current events as part of their teaching on a daily basis. Many students and faculty in their labs, offices and studios use wireless internet on a regular basis in a reasonable manner. However they are unaware that it takes away from access in the computer labs. This has turned our attention to hoping to facilitate the needs of those students and faculty in other areas of the building who will continue to use the existing limited wireless network.
This area will be covered by the network upgrade.
