Isom 312 - seats 16
Room size: 13' x 16'
This is a teaching space used to teach cinema editing to students.
We would like to see this classroom receive a permanent LCD projector and screen and the connect-ability for personal laptops - both PC and Apple.
Currently this room has no ability to project images. It is a smaller room, however, a large screen television has been shown to be a problem with the cinema classes. Past experience has shown these newer and smarter televisions want to "correct" or "help" with images from famous films (Citizen Kane, The Godfather, etc) totally changing the artistic integrity of the film, and both IT and our instructors have failed in attempting to change settings for this type of television. The instructors find it hard to teach the cinematography aspects of these films when they look do not look like the art that was intended by the creator. Also, this screen is also just not large enough for all of the images to be seen. Currently, the instructors have been lugging a portable HD Projector and 9ft. screen to this room and setting them up for almost every cinema class. These changes would change our lives and that of our cinema students.
Film is first and foremost visual, and it's challenging to teach something visual without making it large enough and clear enough for all to see while discussing.
