Adopt-A-Basket for Thanksgiving

The annual Adopt-A-Basket program provides Thanksgiving dinners to needy families in our area. Nonperishable food items and gift cards are needed for 400 baskets to be delivered Wednesday, November 14.

Each basket should contain the following nonperishable food items and a $30 gift card from Wal-Mart or Kroger to enable families to buy turkey, milk, eggs, butter and pie crusts to complete their meal.

  • 2 large cans corn
  • 2 large cans green beans
  • 2 cans chicken broth
  • 1 can cranberry sauce
  • 1 bag rolls
  • 3 pounds sweet potatoes
  • 3 pounds white potatoes
  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk
  • 5 pounds sugar
  • 5 pounds corn meal
  • 1 large onion
  • 1 bunch of celery

Gather items on the list and refrain from buying other items. Place items in a box or container and take it to the Union Ballroom from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. November 13, or from 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. November 14.

Volunteers are needed November 14 to collect and load baskets. Phi Delta Theta fraternity will deliver the baskets, and the Physical Plant Department is donating boxes needed for deliveries.
