Greetings
On behalf of the Theta Psi Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, it is with great excitement that I welcome you to the virtual home of the Theta Psi Chapter. On May 12, 1974, the Theta Psi Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated was chartered by 12 tenacious women. Theta Psi is the first black Greek letter sorority to be chartered on the University of Mississippi campus. Forty-four years and 400+ initiated members later, the Theta Psi Chapter still reigns supreme.
Since 1974, Theta Psi’s initiated membership has exhibited excellence at every turn. Members of Theta Psi have been great stewards of leadership and service on the University of Mississippi campus, having the 1st African American woman to serve as Ole Miss Alumni Association President, a 2017 Miss University titleholder, a host Ole Miss Hall of Famers, and other various accomplishments.
As undergraduates, the current members of the Theta Psi chapter have been doing amazing things on and off campus. Theta Psi continues to represent over 30+ student organizations across campus. Collectively, as Alpha Kappa Alpha women, our undergraduates are leaders in supreme service with over 1,000 hours devoted to the Lafayette, Oxford, University (LOU) Community.
I hope that you enjoy this website and find out more information about Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated and the Theta Psi Chapter. I also encourage you to stay informed and up to date on upcoming events that Theta Psi hosts throughout the academic year.
Kind Regards,
Sumayia Z. Young
