Welcome Message from the President

A Welcome Message from the President

Welcome to the website for the Constance Slaughter-Harvey Chapter of the National Black Law Students Association ("BLSA"). If you have never heard about BLSA, it gives me great pleasure to tell you a little about our organization!

BLSA is a student-led organization whose mission is to increase the number of culturally responsible Black and minority attorneys who excel academically, succeed professionally, and positively impact the community. For minority law students throughout the country, BLSA is the premier organization that gives them a sense of family and belonging while in pursuit of legal education. This principle rings true for our chapter here at The University of Mississippi School of Law.

We strive to implement programming that not only empowers our members but also encourages dialogue and action within our community. We are proud to celebrate our chapterís 50th Anniversary during this academic school year. We are thankful for the steadfast leadership of our namesake, The Honorable Constance Slaughter-Harvey. We are graced with the unwavering support of our illustrious alumni. Our members go on to graduate law school with honors, pass the bar, become attorneys, politicians, judges, general counsel, CEOs, you name it! We are happy to carry the torch of justice into the next 50 years of leadership and service.

Our Leadership Team is inventive, inclusive, and committed to ensuring that the BLSA experience is as enriching as it is exciting. Thank you for visiting our webpage. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.

With BLSA Love,
Laura K. Cooper
President (2018-2019)
