The Schools of Nursing and Pharmacy operate on both the Oxford and Jackson campuses. The Schools of Dentistry, Health Related Professionals and Medicine, and the Health Sciences Graduate School, are based in Jackson only. (Additional healthcare programs are available through the School of Applied Sciences on the Oxford campus.) Other than these exceptions, the schools above are on the Oxford campus.

Brief Bio

Yashwant Prakash Vyas is a higher education and nonprofit professional who centers access, equity, and inclusion in his work. He is passionate about creating accessible, inclusive, and equitable educational opportunities. Motivated by his journey, he strives to empower individuals to attain better life outcomes by supporting their educational attainment. Yashwant is the inaugural Diversity Education and Strategic Initiatives Director at the University of Mississippi. In this role, he advances the efforts of the Division of Diversity and Community Engagement to foster a climate of equity and inclusion at the University by directing the design, implementation, and assessment of campus-wide diversity education programs for faculty, staff, and students [training and development, coaching] and through consulting, resource development, and strategic planning. Prior to joining the University of Mississippi, Yashwant worked at the University of Iowa and Texas A&M University in various roles. At the University of Iowa, Yashwant was the Assistant Director for Diversity Resources in the Division of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and an adjunct instructor in the University College. In this role, he advanced the efforts to foster a climate of equity and inclusion at the University through facilitating diversity education trainings for faculty, staff, and students, designing training curricula, strategic planning, programming, and coaching and consultations related to creating diverse, inclusive, equitable workplaces and classrooms. At Texas A&M University, among his many roles, Yashwant directly oversaw the programming, development, and evaluation of two retention programs to foster equitable and accessible learning environments for Latinx and first-generation college students. He was Student Research Week Director (the largest student-run, single-university research symposium in the nation). He also worked for a private grant- making foundation, Greater Texas Foundation, and engaged in efforts to ensure that all students in the state are prepared for, have access to, and complete post-secondary education. Yashwant is an active member of NASPA - Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education and American College Personnel Association (ACPA) - College Student Educators International. He has presented educational sessions at national and international conferences such as NCORE - National Conference on Race and Ethnicity in American Higher Education. He continues to be invited by colleges and universities to facilitate diversity education trainings for faculty, staff, and students. Yashwant holds a Master of Public Administration degree with a specialization in Higher Education Policy and Administration, along with graduate certificates in Public Management and Nonprofit Management. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree with minors in Mathematics and Leadership Studies. He holds several licenses/certifications such as the Center for the Integration of Research, Teaching and Learning (CIRTL) Associate Certificate, Cultural Intelligence (CQ) Certified Facilitator, Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI) Qualified Administrator, Certified Mediator, etc. Yashwant's academic honors include memberships in numerous honor societies such as the Sigma Xi Scientific Research Society. Highlights in his list of national and international recognitions include NASPA NOW Professional Award for inclusion, Phi Beta Delta Honor Society for International Scholars Edward S. Blankenship Outstanding Staff Award, and Golden Key International Honour Society Outstanding Academic Leader and Advisor of the Year Awards. In his spare time, Yashwant pursues his hobby of drawing and painting. Yashwant's pronouns are he/him/his.
