Brief Bio
Wade Irvin retired from the University of Mississippi in 2013, after 20 years o bassoon & saxophone, chamber ensembles, single reed & double reed methods class playing bassoon in the faculty woodwind quintet. Prior to coming to Ole Miss, D studio woodwinds at Mississippi State University (6 yrs.), and served as assist bands at the University of Mississippi (1 yr.), Northeast Mississippi Junior Co Itawamba Community College (3 yrs). During the 2015-16 school year, he served professor of bassoon at the University of Memphis; and during the 2014-15 schoo served as instructor of woodwinds at Northwest Mississippi Community College. Dr. Irvin holds BS (Music Education) & MM (Woodwind Performance) degrees from Auburn University & the DMA (Bassoon Performance) from the University of Alabam also written a book on learning to read tenor clef published by TrevCo-Varner M Tenor Clef and is currently working on a bassoon fundamentals primer. Dr. Irvin has performed as bassoonist with the following symphonies: Mississipp Tupelo, & Memphis Symphonies and begins responsibilities as Principal Bassoonis North Mississippi Symphony this year. He has been a solo bassoonist with the Tu Symphony and the University of Mississippi Wind Ensemble. His clinics include p for the International Double Reed Society, Mississippi Bandmasters' State Clini Mississippi Music Teachers Association. He is a member of Pi Kappa Lambda.
