Brief Bio
Luanne Buchanan is Associate Instructional Professor of Spanish. Dr. Buchanan earned her Ph.D. in Romance Languages and Literatures at the University of Chicago. She taught at the University of Chicago, St. Norbert College, Wittenberg University, Northern Kentucky University, and the University of Memphis before arriving at the University of Mississippi. Positions held at UM include visiting assistant professor, instructional assistant professor, coordinator of study abroad, and director of academic programs for UM in Tupelo and Southaven. Currently, she teaches Spanish majors and minors, and also provides academic advising for her Spanish advisees as well as students studying abroad in Spanish-speaking countries. Dr. Buchanan administers the campus chapter of Phi Beta Kappa. Her present research interests include translation, Spanish for health professions, and refocusing of literature and other content courses for stronger language proficiency.
