Brief Bio
Lauren started her career as a Marketing and Advertising Coordinator with Comcast Spotlight in Nashville, Tenn. She then transitioned to public education in 2014, where she served as the Director of Communications and Executive Director of the LISD Education Foundation at Lindale ISD for three years. Lauren additionally served as the Texas Schools Public Relations Association (TSPRA) East Texas Zone Coordinator during the 2016-17 school year. From 2017-19, she held the position of Assistant Director of Communications at Highland Park ISD. From 2019-20, Lauren served TSPRA as the North Texas Zone Coordinator and joined the Advancement and Development Department at John Paul II High School as the Director of Communications. In August 2020, she accepted a position with FEMA in the Region 6 Office of External Affairs before joining the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers as a Social Scientist for the Dam and Levee Safety program in November 2021. Lauren also serves as an adjunct lecturer part-time at The University of Texas at Dallas, teaching business communication at the country's No. 31 best business school, The Naveen Jindal School of Management. Lauren has a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism, a Minor in International Studies, and a Specialization in Public Relations from The University of Mississippi (Ole Miss). Upon her graduation at the age of 19, she served as the Class Marshal for the Meek School of Journalism and earned the title of Magna Cum Laude. Lauren has further obtained a Master of Science in Integrated Marketing Communications from West Virginia University. She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Public Administration at The University of Texas at Dallas, with research interests in strategic risk communication, behavioral public administration, education policy, and leadership. Lauren additionally serves as the Vice President of the North Texas Association of Public Administration (NTASPA), the Publication Chair of the ASPA Section on Professional & Organizational Development (SPOD), and the Chapter Fellow of the Dallas-Fort Worth Scholars Strategy Network (SSN).
