Brief Bio
Dr. Thomas Lombardo is Director of Research Integrity & Compliance in the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs and Associate Professor of Psychology at the University of Mississippi. He holds a Ph.D. degree in Psychology (clinical) from the University of Pittsburgh (1983) with focus areas of tobacco, health, and posttraumatic stress disorder. As Director of Research Integrity & Compliance, he oversees the University's Institutional Review Board and Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee. He also ensures research compliance with conflict of interest and export control regulations and laws, promotes the responsible conduct of research, and assists the Vice Chancellor with research misconduct cases. He wrote the state law that enabled the lawful conduct of human subjects research in Mississippi. Dr. Lombardo's current research interest is in modifying existing treatments for posttraumatic stress disorder to make them both more efficient and widely applicable. He has received over $.5 million in research and service grants and contracts and served as major advisor for approximately 30 Ph.D. students. He is an editorial board member for Behavior Modification and a frequent reviewer for several professional journals.
