Brief Bio
Mr. Ryan Upshaw currently serves as Assistant Dean for Student Services with the School of Engineering. As Assistant Dean, he manages a variety of undergraduate student services areas. Previously, Ryan held positions with the Sally McDonnell Barksdale Honors College and the Office of Admissions. He earned a Bachelors Degree in Psychology and Masters Degree in Higher Education/Student Personnel - both from the University of Mississippi. He is currently pursuing a doctorate in education. In 2015, he was named Outstanding Staff Member by the Black Student Union and he was named Outstanding NPHC Chapter Advisor by the Order of Omega in 2016 and 2017. Also in 2017, he was named a recipient of the Lift Every Voice Award. In 2018, he was named a recipient of the Thomas Frist Student Service Award and was named to the Top 50 Under 40 Class of 2018 by the Mississippi Business Journal. He serves on numerous university committees and served as 2010-2011 Staff Council President. He serves as advisor to the Eta Beta chapter of Phi Beta Sigma fraternity, Omicron Delta Kappa society and Lambda Sigma society. Ryan also serves on the National Board of Directors for Lambda Sigma Honor Society and the National Advisory Council for Omicron Delta Kappa Society. He volunteers with the Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership Program, serves on the steering committee for Leadership Lafayette and serves as president of the LOU United Way Board of Directors.
