UNIVERSITY OF MISSISSIPPI SCHOOLS AND COLLEGES

The Schools of Nursing and Pharmacy operate on both the Oxford and Jackson campuses. The Schools of Dentistry, Health Related Professionals and Medicine, and the Health Sciences Graduate School, are based in Jackson only. (Additional healthcare programs are available through the School of Applied Sciences on the Oxford campus.) Other than these exceptions, the schools above are on the Oxford campus.

Brief Bio

Dr. Abe received a MS degree at Nippon Sports Science University and a PhD at Showa University School of Medicine. He has over 30 years of academic experience including professorships at the University of Tokyo, Tokyo Metropolitan University and National Institute of Fitness and Sports in Japan. He is a very productive scholar, with more than 350 peer-reviews articles published in the most prestigious journal. He also has published 14 book chapters, and is the co-editors and co-authors of a Health and Sports Science Textbook, now in its 5th edition (2020), a Improving Health-Span through Sports: Scientific Revelations on Exercise and Nutrition (2019) and a Sarcopenia: Evidence and Implications for Preventive Strategies in its first edition (2013). Now, Dr. Abe is a Visiting Professor at the University of Mississippi, Department of Health, Exercise Science, and Recreation Management.
