Brief Bio
Dr. Ramanarayanan Viswanathan is the Chair and Professor of Electrical Engineering. Dr. Viswanathan received his Ph.D. from Southern Methodist University in 1983. Prior to joining the University of Mississippi in 2012, he was a Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Southern Illinois University, Carbondale. From 2008-2010 he also served as Interim Dean, College of Engineering, Southern Illinois University. His professional accomplishments include the elevation to Fellow rank of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. His research areas include signal detection, wireless sensor networks, and wireless communications.
