The History of Marching Bands with an Emphasis on Marching Band Styles

Whistling, yelling, cheering, and screaming are the sounds that you hear as marching bands take the field. The letters and formations performed are beautiful, but I have always wondered how do they do it? The purpose of my research is to better understand drill design. I hope to acquire the knowledge and skill necessary to effectively chart, teach, and perform difficult but interesting marching band drills.
