  • ABSTRACT

    Acid Inhibitions

The purpose of my experiment is to test several organic acids on various bacteria in oder to deduce which is most effective on inhibiting growth of the bacteria. The bacteria chosen was a variety. Some were gram positive, gram negative, pigmented, and nonpigmented. Among the different ones, some were more related to water treatment, different foods, and antiseptics/disinfectants. Gram negative bacteria are mostly used as cleaning agents; while gram positive are found in soil contamination of vegetables and meats. I hope to find the acids that work best against the bacteria by using pH of the acids as my control. When a results are concluded, I hope to be able to pass along the data to industries for use of water purification, food preservation, and antiseptics/disinfectants.
