A Pilot Study of the effectiveness of Different Approaches to the
Documentation of Computer Programs
| Different methods of documentation may enhance the quality of programmers’ comments and in computer programs. This study investigates the impact of different approaches to the documentation of computer programs. Also, we explore the possibilities of using a quality weighting scheme to quantify the quality of internal program documentation based on known factors that impact computer program comprehensibility and the complexities associated with computer programming structures. This research is applicable to industries where software maintenance is an issue. Enhanced quality documentation within computer programs facilitates the efforts of programmers maintaining software. |
