ABSTRACT

A Statistical Comparison of Methods for Estimating Seed Numbers in the Soil

Often there are instances when further studies and vital decisions are based on the findings published in journals and publications of that sort.  If the results and conclusions are founded in falsely analyzed data, the results could be detrimental.  This study was an analysis of “A Comparison of Methods for Estimating Seed Numbers in the Soil” by Katherine Gross (1990) from the Journal of Ecology.  The results testified to the before mentioned statement by pointing to one of the methods that Gross had not chosen as the best and more efficient at seed estimation.  This type analysis can be applied to examine the results of any study where the observed variables are of an independent nature.
