ABSTRACT

Optimizing Bit State Assignments in Sequential State Machines- with Emphasis in Digital Vending Machines

In order to reduce the costs associated with power consumption in digital logic machines, we have investigated state binary assignments for sequential state machines (SSM). A state assignment technique is presented in this paper. The technique we have used is based on three guidelines. We have applied this approach in a way such that the better state assignments are recognized easily. The purpose of this research is to prove that by making good state assignments one can improve the efficiency of a circuit, therefore reducing the costs of constructing the circuit and the power required to run the machine.
