ABSTRACT
School Shootings: Factors that Contribute to the Events
| The purpose of this research is to understand the factors involved
in school violence that ultimately lead to school shootings. America has
been exposed to these violent acts since 1996 and they have continued to
occur as recently as March of 2005. The 1996 shooting was not the first
in America’s history, but it was the first in a series of deadly school
shootings. The attacks are unpredictable, but the factors involved in the
29 cases since 1996 show consistent patterns that this research will explore.
