ABSTRACT

U.S. Wage Inequality: Past, Present, and Future

The United States is one of the wealthiest countries in the world. However, the United States has experienced the largest increase in inequality among OECD countries such as Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Israel, Netherlands, France, Italy, and Japan. Why has the U.S. experienced the largest increase in inequality? Is it because of supply and demand factors? Or it is because of a falling real minimum wage? The purpose of this research is to determine what caused the growth of wage inequality, by evaluating the consensus and revisionists views.
