Two University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy students have received and accepted spots in the highly competitive Johns Hopkins Pharmacy Internship Program. Kelsey Stephens and Rachel Lowe, both in their second professional year of pharmacy school, will begin their internships on June 1. The Johns Hopkins Hospital is consistently ranked as one of the leading health care institutions worldwide.

The National Center for Natural Products Research hosted a conference Feb 5-6 to evaluate the status of new marijuana therapeutics. In particular, participants discussed issues surrounding the development of a cannabis-derived treatment for children with a rare form of epilepsy. Representatives from federal agencies, universities and pharmaceutical companies were in attendance.

Rising high school seniors get a glimpse of college life while participating in the SCHS program.
|
The School of Pharmacy has partnered with the University of Mississippi’s Summer College for High School Students to offer college courses to rising seniors. Through SCHS, students earn college credit and gain hands-on experience in the pharmacy school while exploring all that Oxford and Ole Miss have to offer. High school students with an interest in health and science are encouraged to apply.

Alicia Bouldin (center) is honored for professional achievements and service to the pharmacy profession.

The American Pharmacists Association Academy of Pharmaceutical Research and Science has named Alicia Bouldin, University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy associate dean and professor, a 2015 APhA fellow. Bouldin was one of only 15 individuals to receive this designation. She will be honored at the APhA Annual Meeting and Exposition in San Diego March 27-30.

Meet Randy Allen, the School of Pharmacy’s telecommunications analyst and go-to person for information technology. In the past decade, he has worked on the redesign of Centennial Auditorium, developed teleconferencing capabilities between the school’s Oxford and Jackson campuses, and helped numerous students and faculty members with IT issues. He said he enjoys working with students and sharing his love of technology with the pharmacy school.
