MIPA donates $100k for pharmacy school renovations

The Mississippi Independent Pharmacies Association has pledged $100,000 in support of the School of Pharmacy’s Faser Capital Initiative. The initiative is focused on Faser Hall’s most recent renovation, which includes a state-of-the-art skills laboratory.


Alumna receives prestigious teaching award

Kelly Gable (PharmD 04) delivers a commencement speech at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.

Kelly Gable, a Pharm.D. graduate from the University of Mississippi, received the Teaching Excellence Award from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. With her numerous accolades, she is the first SIUE School of Pharmacy faculty member to be given this recognition. Her experiences at the School of Pharmacy strongly influenced her success.


Pharmacy students win top honors at 3MT® competition

Sujith Ramachandran presents his three-minute thesis. He received the top prize at the competition.

University of Mississippi pharmacy administration students Amod Athavale and Sujith Ramachandran won first place in the Ph.D. division and the Grand Prize, respectively, in the campuswide Three Minute Thesis competition. Ramachandran will represent Ole Miss at the Conference of Southern Graduate Schools competition in March.


School to install new NMR spectrometers

Charles D. Hufford helped acquire new NMR spectrometers for the pharmacy school.

With the help of federal funds, the University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy will soon install three nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometers. NMRs are integral in the drug-discovery process, and the additions will complete an impressive suite of eight machines.

Meet Don Stanford, assistant director of the Research Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences. If the School of Pharmacy is facing a challenge, then you can bet that Stanford will try to solve it. He oversees the school’s infrastructure and research operations, and a milestone of his career will be the completion of the Thad Cochran Research Center West Wing.
