Fall 2026 (and future) courses will be automatically populated in Blackboard, and manual course activation will no longer be required.

COURSE AVAILABILTY:
availability icon All courses are created as "closed" to students. The 'Close Course' status will prevent student access while keeping the course visible in students' course lists. Course availability is now managed directly within Blackboard and is no longer controlled by Banner after the course is initially created. When your course is ready for student access, you must manually open it in Blackboard.


    To manage course availability:
  • Open your course and navigate to Course Settings in the upper right corner.
  • Select Open Course to allow student access.


You can also access Course Settings directly from the Courses page by selecting the three-dot menu next to a course and choosing Course Settings.


MERGING COURSE ENROLLMENTS:
availability icon Custom course groupings and combined sections now require a manual administrative process. To combine course sections, please complete the merge request form.

Before requesting a merge, please note the following:

  • Courses should be merged before any student activity occurs in the individual course sites. Student records, including discussion posts, grades, assessment attempts, and other course activity, will be deleted and will not transfer to the newly merged course.
  • Once students have completed work in a merged course, the course cannot be unmerged without the loss of student records and activity data.

To avoid disruptions, please submit merge requests as early as possible.

Additional information regarding the merge process, including important cautions and requirements, is available and should be reviewed prior to submitting a merge request.


ENROLLMENT SYNCHRONIZATION:
availability icon Student enrollments have not been populated into the courses at this time. Automated enrollment synchronization will begin closer to the start of the Fall semester after we finalize the Banner integrations and account processes.
