The Pullen Herbarium is comprised of 65,000 vascular plant specimens, mostly of flowering plants. A majority of the collection is from Mississippi, although other southern states are well represented. Through gifts and exchange, the collection also includes specimens from forty-five other states in the US, as well as twelve other countries. The University has a long history of research in natural plant products, and the Pullen Herbarium is the repository for voucher specimens from the Department of Pharmacognosy and the Thad Cochran National Center for Natural Products Research.
