BISC 220 Natural Resource Management in Costa Rica (Study Abroad)
4 Semester hours
Visit and study in three diverse Costa Rican habitats (lowland tropical rainforest, upland tropical cloud forest, and coastal settings). UM students will be picked up at the San Jose airport and transported to a hotel in San Jose. The following morning the group will leave for the world-famous upland Monteverde cloud forest where they will assist with botanical and agricultural studies underway at Bosque Eterno de los Ninos (Children's Eternal Forest). Later, students will be transported to the La Selva Biological Station where they will live and study tropical streams and the associated rain forest for several days. At the end of the trip, students will tour the Tortugurero National Park and study coastal rain forests along the Caribbean.

- live and eat meals in two picturesque tropical field stations and national park
- enjoy canopy tours and sky walks through the cloud forest
- experience rafting with toucans and howler monkeys
- visit Tortuguero beaches and learn about turtle conservation
