UM GmailStudents and others with @go.olemiss.edu accounts Office 365Employees and others with @olemiss.edu accounts
All UM students are issued an official @go.olemiss.edu email address when they are admitted. This is the primary means of communication from the administration, instructors, and advisors. These email accounts are hosted on the UM Gmail cloud service. More information on UM Gmail and other available Google services is available at go.olemiss.edu.
Employee email accounts and special email accounts that use the @olemiss.edu address are hosted on Microsoft's Office 365 cloud service. Beginning February 2017, all of these accounts will begin having two-factor authentication (2FA) enabled. You may sign up to have your account enabled before Labor Day when the remaining accounts will be enabled. All new accounts will be created with 2FA enabled by default.
In order to begin using your email account, you must follow these steps:
- Set up your account for two factor authentication.
- If you want to check email using an installed program or mobile app instead of the web application:
- You may need to create an app password for those clients to work with 2FA.
- Then you can configure your email programs.
