Brief Bio
Carol Minor Boyd is chair and Professor of Social Work. Dr. Boyd received her Ed.D. in education administration at Delta State University and her MSW degree from the University of Southern Mississippi. For 19 years she has served as a department chair of social work (8 years at the University of Mississippi and 12 years at Delta State University). During the 2011-12 school-year she served as Interim Dean of the School of Applied Sciences. Dr. Boyd is an accreditation site visitor for the Council on Social Work Education. Dr. Boyd continues to work with the Association of Social Work Board (the agency that develops and administers the social work license examinations). She has also served in various capacities with the National Association of Social Workers. Her research has been in the area of abstinence education.
