Dr. Bednark is an Instructional Assistant Professor. His background is in the area of cognitive neuroscience specializing in learning and brain processes.
Biography
Dr. Bednark earned his PhD from the University of Otago (New Zealand) in 2012. During his PhD, Dr. Bednark explored the brain processes that underpin learning and the sense of agency. Dr. Bednark completed his postdoctoral training at the Queensland Brain Institute in Australia where his research focused on high-resolution fMRI and multi-voxel pattern analysis. He also was a part of the Australian Science of Learning Research Centre and worked with education researchers to apply cognitive neuroscience imaging techniques to study learning in the classroom. In addition to learning and agency, Dr. Bednark is also interested in environmental psychology and the behaviors that motivate conservation action. In 2021, Dr. Bednark joined the University of Mississippi as an Instructional Assistant Professor where he teaches a variety of undergraduate courses and oversees the undergraduate Internship in Psychology course.
