Biography

Jonny joined the Patterson School of Accountancy in 2024 where he teaches a managerial course in the master's programs. Prior to joining the Patterson School of Accountancy, Jonny earned his Ph.D. in accounting from the University of South Carolina after working in Houston as an auditor at EY and as an accountant for a private equity firm. Jonny is a certified public accountant in the state of Texas.

Jonny conducts judgment and decision making research in managerial, financial, and audit settings. He examines how psychological theory influences the judgment and decision making of accountants and users of financial information. Jonny's research has been published in Management Science and Journal of Management Accounting Research and received popular press coverage in outlets such as Fortune.

In his free time, Jonny enjoys spending time with his wife and two children, watching and playing sports, and he is learning how to smoke meats.
