Brief Bio
Walter G. Chambliss is Director of Technology Management and Professor of Pharmaceutics at the University of Mississippi where he is responsible for intellectual property management and business development. Dr. Chambliss received a B.S. in Pharmacy in 1977, a M.S. in Pharmaceutics in 1980 and a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutics in 1982 from the University of Mississippi. He worked for 17 years in research and development in the pharmaceutical industry at G.D. Searle, Bristol-Myers and Schering-Plough where he was Vice President of R&D for the HealthCare Products Division. He joined the University in 1999 as Associate Director in the National Center for Natural Products Research. He is the author of a number of scientific publications and book chapters in the field of pharmaceutical research and serves on the Board of Directors for several non-profit organizations. Dr. Chambliss teaches graduate level courses in Pharmaceutics and participates in other courses in the School of Pharmacy involving drug development and intellectual property management.
