Honor student wins national scholarship

Laurin Dixon

Laurin Dixon graduated from the UM Honors College in three years and was selected to complete rotations next fall at the National Association of Chain Drug Stores and the Food and Drug Administration's Office of Orphan Drug Products. For these and other accomplishments, Dixon received the Taro Research Foundation Scholarship.

Rahul Khanna has been studying the relationship between the health of caregivers of autistic children and the stress they experience. With a New Investigator Award from the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy, Khanna can expand his research.

School unveils new facility at medical center

The School of Pharmacy celebrated completion of its new education and research building at the UM Medical Center with a Feb. 23 dedication ceremony. The new facility not only brings faculty and students under one roof but also provides a sense of community and is increasing face-to-face interactions and morale.

Koestler, who expresses her caring nature through her practice, foreign mission work and service as one of our school's 270 preceptors, is excited about getting involved in MPhA.

2011 golf tournament prizes

More than 60 players and some two dozen sponsors of last spring's School of Pharmacy Scholarship Golf Tournament raised more than $17,000. With a repeat performance at the 2012 tourney, which is set for March 30, the scholarship endowment created by the Pharmacy Alumni Chapter two years ago could become fully endowed.
