Biography
Diana Semmes is a Lecturer of Spanish in the Department of Modern Languages at the University of Mississippi, where she has been teaching since 2007. She holds a B. A. In History and an M. A. In Spanish from the University of Mississippi. Her interests include second language acquisition and bilingualism in children as well as linguistics. Her interest in Spanish began at a young age in part due to hearing the stories of the mission trips her grandmother made to Mexico. It sparked a curiosity in the language and culture of the people that only continued to grow over time. As a student, Spanish always came naturally, and in college became a favorite subject that eventually led to the pathway to teaching and interpreting.
