Dr. Dowling is a Clinical Psychologist who specializes in teaching, the Scholarship of Teaching Learning, and empirically backed strategies to promote optimal development and functioning.
Research Interests
- The Scholarship of Teaching and Learning, particularly as it relates to increasing undergraduate student success.
- The prevention of externalizing behavior problems through parenting interventions.
- The promotion of optimal development in children, adolescents, and their families.
Biography
Dr. Dowling earned her BA from James Madison University in 2003 and her PhD in Clinical Psychology from Stony Brook University in 2011. Dr. Dowling is a licensed clinical psychologist in the state of MS. Dr. Dowling began teaching at the University of Mississippi in 2012 and teaches a variety of undergraduate courses as well as a graduate course on college teaching. Dr. Dowling was the recipient of the 2021 Paragon Award for Excellence in Distance Teaching through the Division of Outreach, the 2021 Department of Psychology Psi Chi Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching/Mentoring/Advising, and the 2017 College of Liberal Arts Outstanding Instructor of the Year Award.
