Dr. Justin Moody is an Instructional Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice & Legal Studies.
Research Interests
- Judicial decision-making: Exploring internal and external factors that influence case outcomes through the combined lenses of legal formalism and legal realism.
- Evidence authentication and technology: Investigating the interplay between emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence, and its impact on the authentication requirement of the rules of evidence.
- Law clerk/staff attorney impact on the judiciary: Researching how former service as a law clerk/staff attorney impacts a judge’s later service on the bench.
Biography
Dr. Justin Moody is an Instructional Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice & Legal Studies at the University of Mississippi. He formerly served as a law clerk/staff attorney for the First Circuit Court District of Mississippi, the Mississippi Supreme Court, and the United States District Court for the Northern District of Mississippi.
He received his Juris Doctor (law degree) from the University of Mississippi in 2015. His research interests include judicial decision-making, evidentiary issues, and judicial ethics. He is a member of the Mississippi Bar Association and serves on various committees within the organization and the Young Lawyers Division.
