UNIVERSITY OF MISSISSIPPI SCHOOLS AND COLLEGES


The Schools of Nursing and Pharmacy operate on both the Oxford and Jackson campuses. The Schools of Dentistry, Health Related Professionals and Medicine, and the Health Sciences Graduate School, are based in Jackson only. (Additional healthcare programs are available through the School of Applied Sciences on the Oxford campus.) Other than these exceptions, the schools above are on the Oxford campus.

Brief Bio

Kerry Brian Melear is Assistant Professor of Higher Education. His areas of expertise include college and university legal, financial, and public policy concerns, and he actively publishes and presents in those areas. He teaches courses in higher education law, finance, human resources, and international higher education. Dr. Melear was honored to receive the University of Mississippi School of Education's Researcher of the Year Award in 2007. He has worked as an auditor for a Big Six accounting firm, a research associate (doctoral fellow) with the Florida Postsecondary Education Planning Commission, a higher education policy analyst with the Florida Legislature, and a member of the graduate faculty of two universities. He is a member of the Author's Committee of West's Education Law Reporter, the Book Review Editor for the Journal of Law and Education, and was for seven years the editor of The College Administrator and the Courts, a quarterly publication briefing legal cases of interest to university attorneys, administrators, and legal researchers. Dr. Melear is the Education Law Association's Director of Membership for the State of Mississippi, a member of the Board of Directors of the University of Mississippi's Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning, and a member of the Board of Directors of the Oxford-Lafayette County Literacy Council. He is a member of the Education Law Association, the Council on Law in Higher Education, the Association for the Study of Higher Education, and the American Educational Research Association.
