Current, full-time IEP students who have been enrolled in the IEP for at least 1 semester AND who bring a family member or friend to study as a full-time IEP student will receive $250 off tuition for Intensive English (IE) classes during their family member/friend’s first session. In addition, the total discount cannot exceed a student’s current tuition balance (fees excluded), nor can the discount be held to the next semester.

Receive 20% off of tuition each semester you’re enrolled in the IEP!

To honor the teaching career of Brenda Hales, a former Intensive English Program instructor, the Intensive English Program at the University of Mississippi is pleased to announce a 20% tuition-only scholarship to prospective and current IEP students. There are up to 4 Tuition Reduction Scholarships available each semester.

For over a decade, the teaching career of Brenda Hales enriched the learning experience of international students at the University of Mississippi. Both inside and outside of the classroom, she touched the lives of students young and old. As much as she has always welcomed international students to the hospitality of her own home, she also welcomed them into a learning environment in which they gained confidence and felt valued. Whether with her pilot’s license or her passport, Brenda Hales has always been an intrepid traveler who inspires her former students and colleagues as both a lifetime learner and as a true citizen of the world.

New and prospective full-time IEP students are eligible to apply for this scholarship, and the scholarship is only valid for the semester following it being awarded (e.g., awarded in summer and valid for fall). Students must apply each semester for the Tuition Reduction Scholarship, which can be awarded each semester as long as the student is taking full-time Intensive English (IE) classes.

The purpose of this scholarship is to assist prospective, new, and returning students with attending IEP courses. In order to be eligible to receive the Tuition Reduction Scholarship, applicants must be at least 18 years old or have graduated high school, meet regular admissions requirements to the IEP, and submit a complete application to the IEP for a semester-length intensive program (including the application fee).

After being awarded the scholarship, recipients must maintain eligibility by: arriving on the University of Mississippi campus no later than the first day of classes in the semester for which the scholarship was awarded, maintaining passing grades during studies in the IEP, and maintaining F1 status through full-time enrollment and regular attendance.

This scholarship is applicable to tuition only—no other expenses (e.g., housing, meals, fees) are covered by this scholarship. Funds are credited directly to the students’ tuition balances, and no money will be paid directly to students. In addition, total scholarships cannot exceed a student’s current balance (fees excluded), nor can the scholarship be held to the next semester.

Receive a scholarship covering the full cost of tuition and fees!

The Intensive English Program at the University of Mississippi is pleased and honored to announce the Jonatas Lima Memorial Scholarship, which will provide funding for one student, fully covering the tuition and fees* for up to two semesters.

The IEP recognizes the obstacle of paying for funding to study in the United States. A scholarship can help by permitting outstanding students to pursue their education. Recognizing this need, the IEP has established one full tuition scholarship for one student each academic year (fall-spring semesters).

The scholarship honors Jonatas Lima, who was an intelligent, helpful, and friendly student from Goiânia, Brazil.  He faced every challenge with an admirable level of strength, determination, and hopefulness, making him a shining example to everyone who knew him.  As a student in the University of Mississippi Intensive English Program, he was not only diligent, utilizing every opportunity to gain more knowledge, but he was also helpful and respectful to others no matter where they came from or how different their cultures were from his own.  He cherished his family, loved his friends, and welcomed everyone with a gracious smile.

New and prospective full-time IEP students are eligible to apply for this scholarship, and the scholarship is only valid for the semesters following it being awarded (e.g., awarded in summer and valid for fall-spring). In order to be eligible to receive the Jonatas Lima Memorial Scholarship, applicants must be at least 18 years old or have graduated high school, meet regular admissions requirements to the IEP, and submit a complete application to the IEP for a semester-length intensive program (including the application fee).

After being awarded the scholarship, recipients must maintain eligibility by: arriving on the University of Mississippi campus no later than the first day of classes in the semester for which the scholarship was awarded, maintaining an A average during studies in the IEP, and maintaining F1 status through full-time enrollment and regular attendance.

This scholarship is applicable to tuition and fees* only—no other expenses (e.g., housing, insurance, food) are covered by this scholarship. Funds are credited directly to the students’ tuition and fees balance, and no money will be paid directly to students. In addition, total scholarships cannot exceed a student’s current balance (fees excluded), nor can the scholarship be held to the next semester.

*Fees covered: International Fee, Capital Improvement Fee, Activity Fee

Banking

At the beginning of each semester, the IEP offers shuttles to local banks for students wishing to open bank accounts. Most international students without US Social Security Numbers may open a checking/debit account at First National Bank of OxfordRegions Bank, and others. The ISSS Banking page is a good resource for what you will need to open an account in Oxford.

Bursar

All students at the University of Mississippi will have a bursar account, the university’s central method of charging students fees, tuition, healthcare charges, etc. as well as processing scholarships and collecting payments. All IEP students must pay their bursar accounts after receiving the “Bursar Sheet” that declares all expected charges and scholarships. The following link provides more information on the Ole Miss Bursar Office. Bursar Accounts can be paid with international Master/Visa credit cards or US checks, cash, and money orders. Payments with US credit cards will incur a transaction fee. International payments can also be made through Flywire, which allows students to pay from your home country, often in your home currency, through a variety of methods. Log into myOleMiss to view these options and pay your fees.

Housing

The Intensive English Program offers housing accommodations for students in Residence Hall 2 and Residence Hall 3 on campus. While in our housing, students will enjoy activities designed to acclimate them to campus, the South, and the United States. Staff from the Office of Global Engagement, along with student housing staff, provide support to members of this community through activities, events, and opportunities for enrichment.

Residence Hall 2 and Residence Hall 3  feature in-room bathrooms, study rooms on each floor, conference rooms, community kitchens, and lounges with TVs on each floor. Each room is furnished with a microwave/fridge. A desk, dresser, nightstand, and twin extra-long bed is provided for each resident. All rooms are air-conditioned.

The custodial staff will clean the in-room bathrooms and sink areas (only) in student rooms twice monthly. Students are responsible for keeping the sleeping areas of their rooms clean and supplying toilet tissue for in-room bathrooms.

Ethernet hookups, wireless internet, and basic cable will be included in every room. A 24-hour front desk, a community assistant on each floor, a live-in community coordinator, and student ID card readers on all exterior and resident doors will make RH2 and RH3 a safe and secure place to live.

For housing prices, please visit our Cost page.

Students are also allowed to find their own accommodation in the Oxford area, but they must arrange leases independently. We are always happy to provide resources for students looking for off-campus housing.

Mail Services

Letters and packages for Intensive English Program students can be sent to the following address:

Attn: Recipient of Package
P.O. Box 350
Oxford, MS 38655

Students may pick up their package at the front desk of the Intensive English Program.

Meal Plans

Optional meal plans are available to all students, regardless of their housing location. Meal plans allow students to save money by prepaying for a certain number of meals rather than buying meals at regular price.  Please visit Ole Miss Dining for more information on the meal plans and dining options offered on campus. Students living in Residence Hall 2 and Residence Hall 3 will have access to community kitchens along with a microwave and refrigerator in their room.
